The mission of the first-year engineering curriculum is to prepare students for their undergraduate experience, solve real-world multidisciplinary problems, and develop the professional skills needed to succeed in their careers. This will be accomplished through project-based learning in the General Engineering (EG) 1004: Introduction to Engineering and Design course. This course is central to the students-first initiative at NYU Tandon School of Engineering by offering project-based learning for practical engineering skills development in the first year. EG1004 is a gateway course to the rest of the curriculum and opportunities that students will have at Tandon and in their future careers. The EG faculty and undergraduate teaching assistants (TAs) represent a variety of disciplines and act as mentors for student projects and professional development.
